Resource – Set a Static IP Address on Polycom 550 Phone

Switching a Polycom 550 phone from DHCP to a static IP Address.

This can be a useful way to address connectivity issues like URL call is disabled errors.

It may also alleviate some (but not all) call quality issues.

Before You Begin:

  1. Find out the phone’s password. Click Here to use the MAC password. (Password Needed)
  2. Next, determine the phone’s current IP address and a static IP address (along with subnet and gateway) to assign to the phone.

To set a static IP on a Polycom 550 phone:

  1. Press the Menu key.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Advanced.
  4. Type phone Password and press Enter.
  5. Select Admin Settings.
  6. Select Network Configuration.
  7. Select Ethernet Menu.
  8. Select DHCP Client and use the right arrow key to set it to Disabled.
  9. Scroll to and select Phone IP Addr.
  10. Enter intended static IP address.
  11. Scroll to and enter Subnet.
  12. Scroll to and enter Gateway.
  13. Press Exit.
  14. Scroll down and select DNS Server.
  15. Enter: 8.8.8.8 then press OK.
  16. Press Exit.
  17. Scroll to and select DNS Alt.
  18. Enter: 8.8.4.4 then press OK.
  19. Press the left arrow key.
  20. At Save Config? screen, press Yes.
  21. Wait for phone to reboot.
